UKOME

UKOME (Transportation Coordination Center) is a center established to ensure coordination and make decisions regarding transportation and traffic regulations in Turkey. UKOME's duties include issues such as traffic management, public transport regulations, traffic safety and determination of transportation policies. When we examine the UKOME concept in detail, we attach importance to the following issues:

1. Establishment and Purpose: UKOME stands for "Transportation Coordination Center". It is a coordination center established by municipalities, special provincial administrations and special district administrations in Turkey. The main purpose of UKOME is to ensure coordination in traffic and transportation issues, to organize public transportation systems, to increase traffic safety and to determine transportation policies.

2. Duties: UKOME's main tasks may be:

  • Traffic regulations: It includes tasks such as regulating urban traffic, optimizing traffic flow, planning the use of roads and preventing traffic congestion.
  • Public transport: To determine and regulate the tariffs, routes, schedules and other details of public transportation vehicles operated by municipalities.
  • Transportation policies: To determine and implement long-term policies for transportation and transportation infrastructure.
  • Traffic Safety: To take the necessary measures to reduce traffic accidents and to organize campaigns regarding traffic safety.
  • Transportation vehicles and management: To ensure the control of vehicles used in traffic and to make regulations on transportation management.

3. Members: Members of UKOME may be representatives of the relevant ministry, representatives of local governments, police units and other relevant organizations. Members come together at meetings to discuss traffic and transportation-related issues and make decisions.

4. Decision Making Process: UKOME evaluates and approves important decisions to be taken on traffic and transportation issues. UKOME's decisions are important, especially on issues such as determining public transportation routes, traffic regulations, and creating new transportation policies.

5. Local and Central Government Cooperation: UKOME is a platform where local governments and the central government work in cooperation. This cooperation ensures effective and coordinated management of transportation.

UKOME plays an important role in regulating urban transportation in Turkey and solving traffic-related problems. Since different practices and regulations can be made according to the needs of each province and district, the role of UKOME may change in accordance with local requirements.
